We’re Hiring!

We are currently considering candidates for two positions: a Part-Time Tasting Room Associate and a Harvest Assistant Winemaker

Part-Time Tasting Room Associate

Longplay Wine is a small, family-owned winery that produced its first vintage in 2007. We only use fruit from our own vineyard, Lia’s Vineyard, in the Chehalem Mountains. Our winemaking philosophy is “analog wine for a digital world.” We practice limited intervention in the winery because our favorite wines are those that retain a high fidelity to the vineyard where the fruit is grown.

We are looking to add one part-time employee to host guests in our new tasting room, conveniently located at the intersection of Hwy 219, Springbrook Road and Industrial Parkway in Newberg. The team is very small here, you would be working alongside the Director of Sales and Hospitality to create a welcoming environment for our guests. Our tasting room vibe is centered around a passion for music on vinyl … Longplay! Mostly classic rock and jazz. We ask that you respect the albums and the artists who made them. Be prepared to carefully flip an album when it is time to change sides. While we’re just getting started, we currently have you scheduled to work 4-5 hours per day, five days per week (Wednesday-Sunday).

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Host guests and effectively connect them to the brand
  • Promote Sales and Membership Sign-Ups
  • Work weekends (required)
  • Wash and polish stemware
  • General housekeeping of the tasting room
  • If you want to pitch in at harvest, we’d appreciate the help

Qualifications:

  • Previous service or wine industry experience
  • Must have a sense of urgency and a strong work ethic
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • OLCC Servers Permit
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs repeatedly and be on your feet for long periods of time

Harvest Assistant Winemaker

Élevée Winegrowers and Longplay Wine (Lia’s Vineyard) are both micro-boutique producers to be crafted this year under the direction of Winemaker Tom Fitzpatrick at Longplay’s “brand-spanking-new” state-of-the-art facility in Newberg. We are looking for one individual to work directly with our Winemaker and with Todd Hansen, owner of Longplay Wine, to help craft our distinctive wines. This is a very unique opportunity to be involved in every aspect of harvest and wine production, working as part of a 3-person team, working 1-on-1 with our Winemaker. You essentially will be running our cellar and doing much of the work involved in the production of our wines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate forklift to unload bins from truck, weigh fruit, dump bins onto sorting line or into press, and empty fermenters into press
  • Prep and clean barrels, crushpad equipment and fermenters
  • Perform pumpovers and punchdowns
  • Clean and operate pneumatic press
  • Monitor, measure and record data from ferments

Qualifications:

  • Must be hard working, reliable, and EXTREMELY meticulous (like our Winemaker)
  • Demonstrated record of safety and responsibility in the workplace
  • Capable of lifting 40+ pounds, and not mind getting dirty and sticky
  • Tolerance for yellow jackets, ladybug beetles and earwigs (aka tickle bugs)
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, up to 10-14 hour days, 7 days a week (for a span of a few weeks), and have transportation to the winery
  • Forklift driving and wine production experience preferred, but we certainly would consider a highly motivated, “quick to catch on,” and capable candidate
  • Oh, and did I mention cleaning… lots of cleaning?!

We’re looking for someone to start around September 13th and work until early November. It might be possible to start earlier and work in the tasting room until harvest begins and perhaps extend employment by helping in the tasting room after harvest if this is of interest. This will be extremely hard but rewarding work… and lots of fun!
